Feature Request: more user permissions for server managed agents

Post by edison5000 »

Currently, users granted the ability to perform agent-based actions that do not require elevation only have 2 options.

'backup now' and 'restore file'. Would like to make all the standalone agent functions available, as well as the ability to postpone scheduled backup.

Additionally, would like users to be able to enable or disable the default content selection in the job. Our previous product allowed admins to enable users to modify exactly what was backed up; they could select or deselect the default job choices at will, and it still backed up just as fast as Veeam does. (Eg they could change from all of C, to exclude or include folders on the fly). This may not be possible due to Veeam's design, but am still requesting it. : )

Hello,
I think using the standalone agent pointing to a repository gives the users most of the freedom you ask for. Depending on the size of your organization, it might make sense to think about Veeam Cloud Connect as target repository and / or Veeam Service Provider Console (that allows management of "unmanaged" agents). Both products are primarily for service providers, but also available to end customers of a certain size (your Veeam sales rep can help with that)

yes, that's a valid feature request, thanks for that 👍

Best regards,
Hannes
