Files exceeding MAX_PATH - Cannot open reparse point

Post by doktornotor »

So, I found this in the logs and thought I might ask a couple of questions:

Code: Select all

15.11.2018 0:32:00 ERR Cannot open reparse point [F:\<really\long\path\snipped>\filename.iso].
15.11.2018 0:32:00 ERR Win32 error:The system cannot find the path specified.
15.11.2018 0:32:00 ERR Code: 3
15.11.2018 0:32:00 ERR Cannot open reparse point [F:\<really\long\path\snipped>\filename.iso].
:?: Is the backup OK? No errors visible in the GUI...
:?: Will Veeam be able to restore those files/volumes from those backups?
:?: Would setting LongPathsEnabled to 1 under

Code: Select all

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem
avoid this issue? (Some not exactly encouraging experience here, I "fixed" the "problem" by truncating the directory names meanwhile.)

P.S. Latest Veeam Agent version (2.2.0.589), does not seem to matter whether the "offending" files are on ReFS or NTFS.

doktornotor,
Cannot open reparse point [F:\<really\long\path\snipped>\filename.iso].
Which log are you referring to? Thanks!

It looks like and indexing issue (which should not affect the content of you backup) but I vote for checking with our support team. You can open a support case via Control Panel > Support > Technical Support, it's free. If you do, please share the case Id with us. Thanks!
