Hello,
In the user guide for Veeam Agent version 3.0 it states the following:
"If you lose a password that was specified for encryption, you can
change the password in the encryption settings. You can use the new password to restore data from all restore
points in the backup chain, including those restore points that were encrypted with an old password."
If I can change the password and access previous backups with the new password, what is stopping someone with access to those backup files doing the same and gaining access to the data in the backup files?
Many thanks for your help.
Thanks
Neil

Re: Question about encryption/password
Hello Neil,
If someone got access to the machine why bother changing the password for backup file when you can copy the needed data? Cheers! If I can change the password and access previous backups with the new password, what is stopping someone with access to those backup files doing the same and gaining access to the data in the backup files?
