Restoring Backup only EFI bios of 256Mb in 32GB backup restorable
Hi,
I create everyday a backups with VEEAM and once a month a full backup.
One in 2 months I delete the older backup files at source location to lower the backupsize.
Now testing restore of backup -> common sense backup practice
I have one full backup and 4 incremental backup files.
I boot from VeeamRecoveryMedia-v4.0.0.1811.iso and select the vmb backupfile
<Backup Id="537249ae-c19a-4b0e-9eeb-ece1be6b2efe" OriginalId="537249ae-c19a-4b0e-9eeb-ece1be6b2efe" JobId="2af2d1fa-cab8-47a5-a151-9e94fa87a629" JobName="Backup Job LAPTOPNICK2018" JobType="4000" SourceType="3" TargetType="0" JobTargetHostId="6745a759-2205-4cd2-b172-8ec8f7e60ef8" JobTargetHostProtocol="0" RepositoryId="2a7e05d9-386e-4dfb-8ebd-e8c08e292f2b" DirPath="\\Hoofddorp\Data-Hoofddorp\Backup Job LAPTOPNICK2018" MetaFileName="Backup Job LAPTOPNICK2018.vbm" MetaVersion="25" MetaUpdateTime="10/08/2020 20:00:29" BackupPlatform="6" CreationTime="03/05/2018 19:26:37" EncryptionState="1" PolicyName="" BackupPolicyTag="" />

I select latest incremental backup -> restored -> only efi bios in backup ??
I select the full backup created 5 days ago -> only efi bios in backup -> This backupfile is 32 GB large so must include a full backup.
Is it possible my vmb file is corrupted ?
Latest request I saw with same request is 2 years old ...
Any idea how to restore this as I have a vbk file and all vib files ready to use ?
Can I recover my vmb file if I have all other files?

Hello Jan,
Can you please share a couple of screenshots of you agent backup job configuration (backup mode, destination and schedule), the latest job session available (if you click the bar on the chart it should show you the detailed job log) and the restore point step of any backup wizard (you can use file level recovery for that)? You can PM me the link to the screenshots on OneDrive or GoogleDrive. Thank you in advance!

Re: Restoring Backup only EFI bios of 256Mb in 32GB backup restorable
Sorry for bothering you all .. I checked source system ..Thanks Dima ... ALL my backup cycles are FULL system backups only this system was File Backup ??? Don't know 'why I did this. Total wrong configuration. Lucky me I noticed it during restore tests .. that's why you have to do this !!!
I recreated the backup job and new FULL system backup was 89 GB. Restore in test .. still busy.
Question: How can you see the type of your backup is Full System Backup / Volume / File ??
Suggestion: Tag in VBM file

Hello Jan,
Thank you for sharing the updates with us and glad to hear that now it works as expected! You can check the selected backup mode and the content of the backup at the very last summary page of the wizard (once the job is set it wont be modified somehow unless you change it). Processed volumes are also listed under every job session and in the resulting email report. Cheers!
