Sending Backup Job Configuration to WIndows Agent Fails - Cannot Connect
Hi,
As I am using Community Edition, I have no case number.
I have Windows Agents on 2 laptops, backing up to a Veeam server repository. One of the laptops is working fine. The other is not.
One laptop cannot be reached by the Veeam server's physical scanning job. The laptop does successfully perform its backups to the repository.
I think the problem started after installing the Windows 10, version 1903 feature upgrade (although the other laptop also was upgrade with the Windows 10, version 1903 feature upgrade, without incident).
For scan jobs, I get:
9/20/2019 6:22:05 PM :: Cannot send backup job configuration to [HOSTNAME] Error: Cannot connect to [HOSTNAME]
From the Veeam server, I can ping the problematic laptop, and also I can enter the file explorer and specify \\[HOSTNAME]\ and se all shares and administrative shares.
I would greatly appreciate help.

Hi - I think I understand the problem, but don't know how to fix it.
All the Firewall settings for Veeam on the laptop, which were set automatically when installing Veeam Agent, have been removed.
How can I re-apply the firewall changes the Veaam agent makes when it is installed?

Alright, I couldn't wait, so I uninstalled and re-installed the Windows Agent. It correctly reinstated the firewall rules for Veeam.
I wish there had been a more elegant way to accomplish this.

It's a set of firewall rules actually (inbound and outbound rules for VAW overall contain 9 rules), so it's quite tricky to create every single rule manually. I am glad to hear that you've found the workaround. Cheers!

Hello and welcome to the community uantonov,
Can you please clarify if agent is accessible from Veeam B&R machine? In order to perform agent installation and configuration distribution you should make admin share visible, specify admin account in the protection group settings and keep all the ports mentioned opened. Cheers!
