Hi All,
Wondering if anyone could share any similar experiences.
Have a number of very basic file servers/print servers running win 2012 r2 with veeam agent deployed.
On some occasions these servers are reporting VSS sql server writer failures when the job is triggered.
looking on the event logs seeing some sql VDI errors around the same time in the system log.
the actual servers don't run sql at all but I believe veeam agent installs itself a local DB instance for metadata etc and working.
first attempt backup seems to fail with this issue but then second attempt works just fine which is very odd as would expect the same issue its also quite sporadic in not every job but maybe 1 in 4 nights.
anyone had experience of anything similar?
have not been able to pull anything out of the agent logs, checking the version of sql installed its up to sp4 sql 2012 that veeam has installed so that's up to date.
any help appreciated.

Re: SQL Writer Failures
Hello,
Veeam Agent for Windows always uses VSS. So the VSS writers must be stable for a successful backups. No matter whether (SQL) services are running.
Veeam support might be able to help as VSS troubleshooting is a topic that comes up sometimes (please post the case number).
Best regards,
Hannes
