Hi, I installed a new lenovo client with Windows 10 1909 - tried sysprep after installation -- worked - at least it started.
Stopped the sysprep
Reinstalled Windows 10 1909 and made all changes to the OS.
Did a backup with the veeam agent.
Created a recovery medium.
Booted a new client and restored successfully the image.
After logging into Windows I startet sysprep --> did not work - spopk.dll error
--> copied spopk.dll from 1809 to 1909 and sysprep started..
After a while (preperation in progress) ERROR 1962 - no operation system found
SYSTEM DEAD
----
Question:
Is it still required to run sysprep after the bare metall restore before I join those clients to the domain ?
Any alternatives ?
Christian

Re: SYSPREP after bare metal restore
Hi Christian,
If you are creating(restoring) multiple clients from same Veeam Backup file, than for sure you need to run "sysprep.exe /generalize" after each restore, otherwise your infrastructure will have duplicate ID machines and will have conflicts. Depending on used license key, it might have limitations on number of sysprep runs per machine - check out Microsoft Sysprep Guide. Sysprep is also known to fail after tricks with Microsoft Apps on W10.
Spopk.dll error during sysprep is widely discussed on Microsoft forums\internet as a known issue too.
/Cheers!
