Taskbar Icon and Permissions

Post by SimonGreen »

Hi all,

Just discovered this little gem and planning to test on the couple of physical servers we currently have to protect.

I'd like to install this on a RDS server however I have a couple of questions;

1. Is there a way to hide the applet from the notification area for all users except Domain Admins logged into the RDS box?
2. What context does the service run under - if a regular user got to the applet would they be able to manually invoke a backup?

Appreciate any advice.

Regards,

Simon

Hi Simon,

It’s impossible to keep it closed (every restart will boot up the tray app again). However, it’s possible to close (Exit) the Tray application while you are logged on.
2What context does the service run under
Local system account. VEB runs per machine and not per user, so it's makes no differences on who is currently logged in.
