Use Cloud Repository managed by Veeam B&R
Hi
Is it possible to configure VAW to use a cloud repository managed by a Veeam B&R Server, instead of configuring the cloud provider on agent side? The field to configure agent permissions on a cloud repository on the B&R Server is grayed out.
I understand that it is not possible on Linux Agents as described here
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=10
But I couldn't find a similar restriction in the documentation for VAW
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=20
Thanks for any help

Hi,
If I understood you question right, then you can point VAW directly to the cloud repository (see these instructions) and this repository can only be created by a service provider.
Thanks!

Hi
We have a B&R Server, connected to a cloud service provider. We would like to connect the agents to the B&R Server instead of directly to the cloud service provider. The target should be the cloud repositorys.
Is this possible?
Thanks

That is not possible. What would be the use case for this?

To manage all agents central on the B&R Server instead of the service provider side.

In this case it would be possible (centralized management), but this is unrelated to the cloud repository, you will need to use regular repository. As for the service provider, then he can manage all the backup agents via Veeam Availability Console. In this scenario backup agents can go straight to the cloud repository of the service provider.

You can use the centralized management feature coming in update 3 and store them on a local repository. Afterwards you can use VBR with Backup Copy Job to get an offsite copy of the agent backups. This way you have a local and remote copy of the data.

Re: Use Cloud Repository managed by Veeam B&R
Thank you for your answers, they cleared some and raised some new questions:
Our goal now is to backup our veeam agents directly to a SP cloud repository (we manage both sides, agent and SP). We are a little confused on where to install the license to achieve that.
On one side, we need to install the veeam agent license on the client side to be able to configure a cloud repository as destination (the free version does not have this option). But on the SP side, we also need enough licenses as mentioned here:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=95
Thanks in advance!

We want to manage the licenses central on the SP side, since managing the licenses on the clients themselves would not be practical. Is this possible, and if so how should we do it? Just revoke the license on client side after it is connected to the SP?SPs who want to expose cloud repository for Veeam Agent backups should obtain and install a Veeam Cloud Connect service provider license that supports Veeam Agents. The SP should obtain a license for the total number of machines that all tenants working with this SP plan to back up with Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Use Cloud Repository managed by Veeam B&R
If you want to point Veeam agents directly to Cloud Connect repository and manage all the licenses from one place on our side, then you will need Veeam Availability Console (VAC), which will allow you to do the following:
1. Install one key for the Veeam backup agent
2. remotely deploy and configure backup agents with the required config
3. manage all license keys from your VAC server. No need to install license key to each managed backup agent
On a side note, you will also need to install a Cloud Connect key (separate) to allow storing agent backups in the repository. This piece is the same when managing backup agents through VAC or VBR.
For more info on how to make it work, please kindly apply for Veeam Cloud & Service Providers forum. You should be a registered VCSP to get the approval. Thanks!
