Veeam Agent License

Post by jimscott »

Hi all,

I have a question about Veeam Windows Agent license.

Until this week we have been using Veeam Endpoint Free v1.5 (from memory) on our 100+ Windows laptops. These laptops backup to a server that was running Veeam Backup and Replication 9.0. This server has a licence to cover the processor within its own physical box. No VMware or HyperV servers are backed up to this repository, just laptops as mentioned.

We have now updated the Backup and Replication server to 9.5 Update 2 (we have a active support contract for this perpetual license). We have also started updating the workstations to the latest edition of Veeam Endpoint or what is now called Veeam Agent for Windows.

I have been reading that these clients now need licenses and will stop working? Is this correct?

Regards
Jim

Hi Jim,

No, Veeam Agent for Windows still remains as free solution.
However, there are a few paid licenses available for purchase, you can review Editions comparison here. Thanks!

Do you mean you have a VBR license on this server or are you talking about Windows licenses here?

Jim,

It’s safe to upgrade your agents to the latest version. Backup settings will be preserved and agents will operate in free mode.
