Veeam Agent with Veeam Backup & Replication data path

Our prospect customer have question about data path of Veeam Agent.
The backup destination of Veeam Agent set SMB repository of Veeam B&R.

In this situation, dose the data path of Veeam Agent go through the gateway server for this SMB repository ?

From the below document, we need to connect from Veeam Agent to Gateway Server and SMB.

So we think when we explicitly selected a gateway server for SMB with Veeam B&R, Veeam Agent go through this gateway server.
When we set gateway server to "Automatic", Veeam Agent back up directly to SMB storage.
Is it correct ?

Hi Toshihiro,

"Automatic" means the selection of the server for backup data mover will be made automatically depending on availability. If you choose Veeam B&R Repository as a target and it's CIFS/SMB Share, the gateway server has to be used for data mover service either as dedicated or as a part of backup server.

Also, you can choose Shared Folder as a target in the Configuration of the Agent, then the data will be sent directly from the agent to the shared folder. Thanks!

I understand the data path of backup to CIFS/SMB reposiry.

Incidentally, if we choose Veeam B&R Repository as a target and it's Windows Repository, dose the data path of Veeam Agent go through the Veeam B&R ?

We think the server for backup data mover is Windows reposiroty.
So we think Veeam Agent back up directly to Windows repository without going through the Veeam B&R server.
