Hey there,
I would like to use Veeam Agent for Linux to backup some Ploop Container Images (Single File Backups) on our OpenVZ Server. OpenVZ is based on RHEL 7 ... but Kernel Module doesn't seem to work ... ?
Code: Select all
[09.04.2018 17:25:54] <139846713435904> vsnap | Checking whether veeamsnap kernel module is loaded.
[09.04.2018 17:25:54] <139846713435904> vsnap | Module is not loaded.
[09.04.2018 17:25:54] <139846713435904> vsnap | Loading kernel module veeamsnap with parameters [zerosnapdata=1 debuglogging=0].
[09.04.2018 17:25:54] <139846713435904> | Arguments: [modprobe veeamsnap zerosnapdata=1 debuglogging=0].
[09.04.2018 17:25:54] <139846713435904> vsnap | Loading kernel module veeamsnap with parameters [zerosnapdata=1 debuglogging=0]. Failed.
[09.04.2018 17:25:54] <139846713435904> lpbcore| ERR |Snapshot creation operation has failed.
Would be no problem - as I would freeze/snapshot the Ploop Files with Custom Script myself - so the Veeam Snapshot / Kernel Module wouldn't be needed in this case.
Please tell me there is (some hidden / not mentioned in the Docs) config Flag to disable Veeam Snapshot functionality ... ?!
thx, bye from Austria

You should be able to backup the OpenVZ host but sadly VAL does not support backing up the guests by OpenVZ. You can't disable the snapshot function for now.

Would be fine to just backup the Root Node - as for those Backups we just need the Ploop Images of the Containers and not their contents ...
Any idea what could cause the Problems with "vsnap | Module is not loaded."?
+ Feature Request: possibility to disable Snapshot Function for "special case" Backups ...

Good call. This feature has been requested recently by other people and it really makes sense.
Thank you
