Hi fellas,
the recmd. way backing up is to use (Entire machine). This is fine as long as NFS/SMB is used as target.
Using a local target yields in an error that the target belongs to system backed up. (my USB is mounted to /run/media.... a tmpfs - could be excluded automagically since a tmpfs in RAM - but anyhow)
So my backup goes to the USB as a (Volume level backup) only backing up "sda" and swap.
Q: Will this be enough to restore the machine (using the Veeam boot-ISO) bare metal to a running state?
Cheers
Harald

Re: Bare metal restore based on different backups types
Hi,
Yes, if select all of your volumes for backup to an external media (except that media) that will be enough for recovery. I'd recommend to create custom recovery ISO just in case you have some hardware-specific drivers on your system.
Thanks
You can override that check if you use CLI instead of GUI.Using a local target yields in an error that the target belongs to system backed up.
