Installing VAL on Oracle Linux 8.7 problem
Hey there,
first off, im really not very proficient in Linux and maybe I did something very obviously wrong or didn't understand the solutions I found.
But, I'm trying to install the standalone Agent on Oracle Linux 8.7 (seems to be one of the worst distros to have for this but its what I've got). The machine I want to install it on doesn't have internet, so I tried downloading Veeam, Veeamsnap, DKMS and their dependencies on another machine to then install manually.
After installing all the dependencies (including kmod-veeamsnap), veeamsnap itself won't install cause it conflicts with kmod. I think I have tried every possible order of installation of veeamsnap, kmod and DKMS but I cant get it to install.
What am I missing? I found some other posts with the same error but the solutions weren't clear to me or seemed like they were for different problems.
Help is much appreciated

Re: Installing VAL on Oracle Linux 8.7 problem
Hello,
Please follow the steps as documented in the Veeam Agent for Linux User Guide: Installing Veeam Agent for Linux with Kernel Module in Offline Mode.
After installing the DKMS package, you will need to install the following RPM packages:
Please note that the kmod-veeamsnap package will only work with the RHCK kernel. Additionally, it is important not to install the kmod-veeamsnap package alongside veeamsnap.
Please follow the steps as documented in the Veeam Agent for Linux User Guide: Installing Veeam Agent for Linux with Kernel Module in Offline Mode.
After installing the DKMS package, you will need to install the following RPM packages:
Code: Select all
rpm -i <...>/veeamsnap-6.1.0.1498-1.noarch.rpm
rpm -i <...>/veeam-libs-6.1.0.1498-1.x86_64.rpm
rpm -i <...>/veeam-6.1.0.1498-1.el8.x86_64.rpm

Thanks for the answer, I had tried with yum before. But even in this way veeam, when trying to do a backup, will say "Veeam snapshot kernel module not found"

Hello @pdossis
Seems you are running your Oracle Linux in EFI SecureBoot enabled mode.
If so, try following:
1. Request the enrollment of the public key (it will ask for password input):
2. Reboot the machine and following MOK Enrollment steps at boot, User Guide is here. Do not miss "blue screen" catch. Otherwise you have to repeat from step 1. Use the same password from step 1.
3. After reboot try to run a backup job session.
