Notification reports for agent backups managed by client

If our Linux admin group opts to configure agent backup schedules from the host side to eliminate the need to share admin credentials with the Veeam B&R server, there doesn't appear to be a way to generate email reports for backup jobs. Am I missing something or is that a limitation of this backup method? How could the admins get daily reports on their jobs? Does it have to be a home grown script?

Hi Joe,

Correct, it's impossible to get email notifications for standalone Agent Jobs not backing up to B&R repository (the email server is a part of B&R), however, there are built-in reporting and logging capabilities that can be used to build your own reports.

Personally, I think it's easier to supply the credentials to the B&R server and use the Agent Management reporting functionality.

Hi Fedor,

Thanks for the info. In the Viewing Session Status example, how is the session id determined to run the command line session status? I assume a script could be used to send the output to mail, correct?

They can get reports for every session even if Agents work in standalone mode, but back up to a B&R repository. To make that work you need to configure Global Notification Settings

Yes I noticed their email could be added to the Global Notification Settings, but then they would be getting reports from dozens of other jobs that have nothing to do with them, and I don't know how willing they would be to set up filtering just to work around that ; >

I think the way to go in this case is to create your own script based on some of the suggestions from the aforementioned Scripting topic.
