With the Veeam Agent for Windows, when configuring the backup job, you're able to configure the target for LAN or WAN in the advanced settings:
Can this be done with the Linux agent? I'm backing up over WAN with not the best upload speed, so I want to try and save any bandwidth I can.

Re: Optimize target for WAN
If you configure a Veeam Agent Job in the vbr server, the same option is available for Linux Agents:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
Edit:
For standalone installation, you can use this command:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=50
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
In the Storageoptimization section, select what type of backup target you plan to use: Local target (large blocks), Local target, LAN target or WAN target. Depending on the chosen storage type, Veeam Agent for Linux will use data blocks of different size to optimize the size of backup files and job performance.
Edit:
For standalone installation, you can use this command:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=50
Code: Select all
veeamconfig job edit volumelevel <option> for --name <job_name>
Option:
--blocksize {Data block size in kilobytes. Possible values are 256, 512, 1024 or 4096}

Re: Optimize target for WAN
Thanks for the response. I'm using the standalone installation, so I'll need to use the veeamconfig command. For clarity, would a WAN target use larger or smaller blocks?
