Update or Workaround for findutils blocking Install ?

Post by SocalUser »

Veeam ROCKS... been using for years. However I am having an issue with Installation on Oracle Solaris (sparc).

We use GNU utils loaded in /usr/local.

I am looking for an update or workaround which sounds the same as an AIX issue from another case posted on the Forum.
Other Forum Case#: 04464257

My case:
Case #05050000 — Installation conflict with GNU findutils in /usr/local
Veeam Agent for Oracle Solaris — Production Support — ID: #02296088

Code: Select all

[root@ld-shu veeam]# pkgadd -G -d ./mlocate-0.26-sparc.pkg

The following packages are available:
  1 mlocate mlocate
                 (sparc) 0.26

Select package(s) you wish to process (or 'all' to process
all packages). (default: all) [?,??,q]:

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

I don't have a workaround for you, but I asked support to put your case into the Solaris queue (I saw the first answer was about Linux).

I see that logs are missing in the case. I recommend to add them (veeamconfig grablogs).

Note: indexing is optional and not needed for normal restore. It's only for Enterprise Manager.

Best regards,
Hannes

Hannes, John here (SocalUser) from California.

Many thanks for your response.

I can't run the grablogs as the issue is getting the VeeamAgent application to load. Once VeeamAgent is loaded, I am not having any issues.

Is there any way to have the VeeamAgent install point to an existing findutils "locate" program?

I did get a clean install for Sparc Solaris 11.4 as the mlocate 0.26 is part of the OS for that version.

Other Sparc Solaris servers are running various versions of 10 and 11. They have 3rd party installs of GNU findutils. Some may be compiled on the box, some have packages.

I did get an install for one of my Sparc Solaris 10 boxes too, but I had to mess around with paths and env variables as we have some GNU utilities installed at /usr/local. I believe specifically the SMCfindu package (which is GNU findutils) packaged by someone... lol

I tried to un-install the package, but have not worked that out yet.

Code: Select all

[root@ld-shu usr]# pkgrm SMCfindu

The following package is currently installed:
   SMCfindu findutils
             (sparc) 4.4.2

Do you want to remove this package? [y,n,?,q] y
y <<<< waited here for an hour....

 ^C
Removal of <SMCfindu> was terminated due to user request.
No changes were made to the system.
Best wishes, John

John,

On your Solaris 11.4 you have 'mlocate', right? In this case, you don't have to install 'mlocate' from the package provided by Veeam.

Which flavour of 'locate' do you have installed on your other Solaris boxes (pre-11.4) ?

Thanks!
