AzureAD deprecation and m365 restore portal

Post by bcravn »

Hi!

As stated here:
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/ ... -p/3848270
MS is looking into deprecating the azureAD modules for powershell.
But as described here:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... enant-side
these modules are required for onboarding (new) tenants into our restore portals.
Are there any plans on updating the documentation with a new way of during this ?

Actually we often use this great script:
https://github.com/VeeamHub/powershell/ ... Portal.ps1
so hopefully this would be updated as well, when the official documentation is updated :)

Hi Bjarke

Thank you for the request.
In GraphAPI, there are currently two API's which I believe can replace the old approach.

The steps should be as followed (I haven't tested it myself yet):
1.) Get the application ID of the restore portal app
2.) Create the Service Principal per GraphAPI with the app-id in the customers M365 tenant --> https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph ... &tabs=http
3.) Admin Consent via GraphAPI --> https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph ... &tabs=http

I will discuss the API calls with the author of the script. Maybe we can do an update of the script to use both GraphAPI endpoints instead of the Azure modules.

Best,
Fabian
