We ran across a situation recently where a user A was sharing a OneDrive file with User B internally. User A was deleted however User B was still able to access the OneDrive file for 31 days and make modifications. Once the user lost access to the OneDrive file after 31 days they logged a support ticket. When going to restore the OneDrive file the latest backup was from 31 days prior so the user has lost 31 days of revisions to this file.
I am trying to see what the best way to deal with a situation like this is. Is there any way to recover the file (i dont think there is but happy to be proven wrong).

Re: Deleted User - OneDrive Document Still Modified But Not Backed Up
Hi Martin,
When you delete a user account from Entra ID, their shared OneDrive remains available for modifications for another 30 days (by default), after which this OneDrive is moved to the SharePoint recycle bin for another 93 days. Technically, it still remains recoverable via M365 tools during this period. And a few days before putting the deleted OneDrive in the recycle bin, Microsoft sends notifications about this future action.
From the VB365 perspective, once a user is deleted from Entra ID, it becomes inaccessible for backup. Hence, modifications to the shared and deleted OneDrive, unfortunately, cannot be protected.
