Deleting Onedrive files & Scheduled Backups

Post by headmaster »

Hi,

Is it possible to remove a user's files in a microsoft 365 onedrive backup, I don't see an option in Veeam Explorer, or has my managed provider turned that option off?

I assume it is possible to backup more than once a day, our managed Veeam backup only backs up once at 22:00?

Many thanks for any replies.

Your service provider can remove the backed up OneDrive data (always the entire OneDrive Backup of a given user, removing specific files or folders is not possible) with the help of powershell on the vbo server.

Example 1 of the remove-vboentitydata command will remove the OneDrive Data. The parameters for Sites, mailbox and archivemailbox should be removed if using the provided example, or this objects will be deleted too.

The backup can be scheduled multiple times in a day. But if your service provider has dozens/hundreds of m365 organizations which he does provide backup services, I‘m sure that this is in his concept/SLA to run the backup only once in a day.

One of the best practices is to run the backup jobs outside of work hours to reduce the impact of throttling on your normal applications like outlook or active sync.
