High Availability Veeam O365

Post by FrankCl2 »

Might be strange question, but here goes.

A new prospect of ours has a HA environment with 2 Hyper-V hypervisors running at the moment.
They would like to backup O365 with Veeam and run this on their own platform. But what is possible in terms of HA with a VM running the Veeam Backup for O365?
Should they create 2 VMs on both hypervisors and have 1 configured and run the backups? And when this VM goes down, can you switch to the other VM and continue backing up?

I'm thinking this isn't possible, but would like to know for sure.

Thanks!

Veeam products do not have HA implemented.
If you have a hyperv cluster, you can start the vm after a failure on the second host.
But there isn‘t a software clustering feature.

Fabian is correct, there is no HA. You will have to use native Hyper-V features here. Another option is to use object storage and store the data there. Combine it with backing up the VBO365 server with either VBR or VAW and you can quickly recover and reconnect to the desired object storage.
