License Overview
Heyho,
I am still struggling with the Licensing in VBO365.
In O365 I have 1375 Licenses used (+ some Exchange Online).
VBO365 needs 1519 Licenses.
That is a difference of 144 Licenses which I don't know where it comes from.
Is there any option to see which Mailbox/user has a VBO365 License assigned?
Or any other option you see to match the O365 users to VBO365 licenses?
thanks in advance!
Ah and if there is no option for that yet, then this is a feature request

Re: License Overview
Hi jochot,
First, your FR is already on our To-Do list for the upcoming versions )
Now, to get the license count you can use PowerShell along with some manual calculations (I know, that's not a very convenient way, but it works).
But before going ahead with scripting, a few questions to better understand your current state:
- have you already installed the latest patch KB2765?
- how many additional Exchange Online licenses do you have and are those users also backed up with VBO?
- is your backup job configured to back up entire organization?
- are there any users that you have protected but then at some point removed from the jobs?
Thanks!

Re: License Overview
From what I have seen the powershell method is inaccurate as well. The latest response I got from support [ID# 03276937] was that there is not a way to get an accurate license count per organization or to even reliably determine which users are consuming licenses. They said it would be fixed in a future release but for now you can't get there from here. Now, to get the license count you can use PowerShell along with some manual calculations (I know, that's not a very convenient way, but it works).

@jochot,
You say 1375 licenses, + some additional exchange online? Any change those two will add up to 1519?

Re: License Overview
This right here! How can this product exist without the ability to report on and manage the licensing? Re-initing the DB manually is just crazy. We really need a better way to manage licensing.

David,
Version 3 (which is coming soon) will bring much more visibility to licensing management, including the reporting functionality. Please stay tuned to the updates on forums and on our website.

Re: License Overview
That's excellent news! I saw the 3.0 beta on the forum but didn't install it because we are in production.
Thank you.
Thank you.
