Microsoft 365 Groups

Post by moh@dhigroup.com »

I really need some help adding all Microsoft 365 Groups which are in a “Lock State” = “Read Only” to the exclusion tab on a Veeam Job. And then I need to add all the same Microsoft 365 Groups to another job where I can try to run a backup of those each month.

Our SharePoint team are using this command to set a Microsoft 365 Group to "Read Only"
Set-SPOSite -Identity https://xxxxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/xxxxxxxx -LockState "ReadOnly"

The problem is that we have about 9000 Groups in "Read Only" and it gives really bad performance, as Veeam tries to backup them up, but can't, as the group is in "Read Only".
Support case is: 05820027

Thanks
Morten

Hi Morten,

The best way to do this is to create a PowerShell script. You should be able to find a good starting PowerShell script from here: https://github.com/VeeamHub/powershell

Then you can use that list to exclude them automatically from the job
