Hi guys,
We have just set up Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, the backup worked as expected, and we were able to randomly restore emails from individual mailboxes, which is exactly what we wanted.
What we are hoping for is to also do backup copies to a second location in case of drive failure. In everything I'm reading we can create a backup copy to object storage, but not to a second repository, which seems to be a heavy limitation for Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.
Talking to our Veeam supplier he tells me that we either have to get cloud storage (they suggested Wasabi), set up an object storage server, or do backup copies using VeeamB&R, but the latter is apparently a mess to restore data as Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 doesn't know about the data backed up by VeeamB&R.
Are we expecting that backup copies to local storage will be a thing in the near future? Will Backup & Replication get the ability to backup Microsoft 365 data?

Re: On-Prem Backup Copies
What happens if we use a backup repository that is actually a USB drive that is changed daily? Can Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 handle the drive change?

Re: On-Prem Backup Copies
Hi Alex,
Copies to local storage are not foreseen; and your Veeam supplier is correct in saying that you can set up backup copy jobs only from an object storage repository to another object storage.
Drive change is not supported because when using local storage we write to a live database and in case we cannot guarantee data consistency and reliable repository upgrades.
