Hi All,
We have reached the point where our 365 backups are exceeding the 64TB VSS limit, so need split the backups across multiple volumes/repositories to be able to protect our 365 backups using the Veeam B&R Agent and 3-2-1 rule, something like scale out repositories would be ideal but unfortunately don't exist in backup for O365
Our O365 backup servers are physical with SAN attached storage and we already have separate backups for Mail, Teams, Sharepoint Sites and OneDrive
How do you split your backups to get around the 64TB limit? I thought about using dynamic groups, but these are not supported with modern app-only authentication and would like something that is supported across all authentication methods
Ideally the solution would automatically manage the addition and removal of users as they join and leave the business to cut down administration overheads and avoid the possibility of users being missed
Thanks in advance

Re: Splitting large backups across multiple repositories
You could create multiple backup jobs and script the addition of new users or sites with with Exchange Online Powershell/VBO365 Powershell.
An example for the mailboxes:
1) Get all Mailboxes
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powers ... xchange-ps
2) Put them in two or more groups
Some Powershell Logic to sort them in to different groups, you could use Customattribute1 to Customattribute10 in Exchange Online to configure which backup job to use.
3) Add them to dedicated Backup jobs with their own backup repos.

Re: Splitting large backups across multiple repositories
Thanks Mildur, I think powershell scripts combined with multiple backup jobs to dedicated repositories is definitely the way forward, my only concern with scripting is that something could get missed, but don't see any other alternative unfortunately.
