Staging of restore files

Post by OzFenric »

Just seeking clarification. When VBO restores a mailbox or file to a location, it stages the file in the Windows Temp directory before placing the completed file into its chosen destination. I'd just like to confirm that restoring a mailbox or file to its original location in Exchange Online or SPO does not require a staging folder and the restored data is uploaded directly from the proxy. We need to know this to be sure we're provisioning sufficient space on the VBO and proxy servers for staging of large-content restores. Thank you.

Hello
When VBO restores a mailbox or file to a location, it stages the file in the Windows Temp directory before placing the completed file into its chosen destination.
Can you tell me a little bit more about this staging folder? Where is it located? How big is the file?
When I restoring a 500MB OneDrive file from a jet based or object storage based backup repositories to my local Drive D, I don't get any new files C:\Windows\Temp.
What sort of restore are you using? RestAPI, Explorer, Powershell?
