Hi everyone,
we are looking into the Veeam Backup O365 solution.
As i do not want to get all data from the cloud as a backup in our datacenter i want to get it from cloud to cloud.
So i need a VM at Azure/AWS and some storage spaces there.
Is there a recommendation to backup it to AWS (or other cloud provider) instead of to the same cloud provider you are backing up?
Is there a better performance if i back it up to Azure instead of AWS?
Or should i simple create a copy job to AWS?
BR
Stephan

Re: Suggestions for deploying O365 Backup
Hi Stephan,
It is difficult to give an exact recommendation but I'll do my best
* If you are going to deploy it on Azure/ AWS, don't use storage spaces but store the data on Object Storage. The cost will be much lower
* We notice that Azure backup is a bit faster compared to AWS.
* I don't see any issues by using Azure even if it is both Microsoft. Azure vs O365 are completely separated services. Some will tell you that they go to AWS because they don't want to put their eggs in the same basket but I don't see it as the same basket.

Re: Suggestions for deploying O365 Backup
Yes. I just meant the space on this cloud provider Storage spaces would be far to expensive.
Different cloud providers just came to my mind after several deployments from MS in the past years that not only affected M365 but also Azure.
Like the last authentication patch that had massive influence on all services and also times where the MFA service did not work for a whole day. And i don't want break glass accounts everywhere

Re: Suggestions for deploying O365 Backup
True, but, even if you deploy it on AWS, then the backups will still fail in the case of that authentication issue... And login into VBO can always be done with a local administrator so you will always be able to reach the server and do (if needed) restores
