Hi.
I have Veeam Backup for Office 365 Community Edition v6.0.0.367.
I backup SharePoint and OneDrive folders of my users.
I found out that files are backed up sort of randomly. Some files get into backup and some don't.
Then I found that it depends on creation time of files. So if I change anything in a file - the next time it will be backed up even though I never had it backed up before.
I know that it has to do with Retention settings. But in my case it's:
Settings -> History -> specify sessions history retention settings:
KEEP ALL SESSIONS.
And anyway a lot of files have no vesrions/history/backups whatsoever.
So it seems that there is some kind of hidden setting: "don't back up files older than X days" or smth like that.
And yes, the veeam backup account has all the needed rights granted.
Would be thankful for any help.

Re: Veeam Backup for Office 365 (Com.Ed) doesn't backup old files
Hi Konstantin,
Sessions history retention settings define the retention period for backup session logs, while you need to change retention settings on your repository: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=60.
Currently, I believe you're using Image-level retention, while the option you're looking for is Snapshot-based retention.

Polina, thank you!
It worked out! At least I got all my files (even the oldest) backed up!
Even though I couldn't set Snapshot-based retention (inactive item).
So at the moment - the settings are: Image-level, eternal retention.

The option is greyed out because once set the retention type cannot be changed for the repository. You will need to create a new repository and set it to Snapshot-based retention if you want to keep all the historical data in the backup.
With Item-level, VB365 will grab all the data that has been modified within the specified retention period, i.e. in 3 years from now. All the rest will remain out of the backup scope. You can search forums for more detailed discussions on how it works, or check out our Helpcenter to learn more about different retention types.
