Veeam Backup Office365 - Entire Organization - Gotcha

Post by Elemer.gazda »

Scenario is as follows:
  • DISABLED Office 365 job to backup mailboxes
  • Active Office 365 job backing up Entire Organization
In the above scenario mailboxes will NOT be backed up.
As per documentation found here https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=50
Objects that are already processed by any of your backup jobs will be skipped from the entire organization processing list.
And the above WILL happen even if that other backup is disabled !

My only question to Veeam is:
Why?

Elemer,

Sometimes you disable a job because of various reasons (think maintenance for example, or you are redesigning the job). If we would allow then the mailboxes to be protected by another job, it would mean (especially in the case of different repository) that all the data would be downloaded again, and almost always that is not wanted.
