VM with changed tag still being backed up

Hi,
We have a backup policy that uses a tag named "backup policy" with a specific value as source.
A while ago I changed the value of that tag "backup policy" for a test VM to something else, asuming the VM would not be backed up by that policy anymore.

Surprisingly this VM is still backed up by the specific policy, although the tag doesn't match.
Is that by design?

Hi,

This doesn't look like correct logic but that is hard to tell without direct insight using the forums.

We will protect a VM based on the retention settings of the policy before removing it from the backups so it could be this is what you are seeing. If you do see the VM being protected every policy run, please open a support case for insight and let us know the case ID for future reference.

Thanks for the quick response. I will open a support case then.
I was expecting to see the restore points fading away as time goes by, but the restore points are the same as the policy, including the 3 snapshots from the last 3 days.
