Application Aware Processing ignored for some Linux distributions
About a year ago we hit a problem that our very rare distribution was simply skipped for AAP and scripts with no errors/warnings. Support determined that there is a hardcoded list of operating systems - if you're not on it, you get silently skipped. In that case changing "other Linux" to CentOS 7 (the closest one in family) worked around the issue. Historical support id #03420912.
Now I'm seeing the same issue with a real CentOS8 - it seems to get silently skipped. In that old case we also tried CentOS8 (just to fake OS enough for scripts to work) and it didn't work either. CentOS8 doesn't sound rare at all and it's been out for quite a while - curiously Debian 10 worked immediately at release. Back then it was v9.5something, now it's v10P1. Am I missing something?

Re: Application Aware Processing ignored for some Linux distributions
Hi,
That is, AAIP (script?) is failing for "CentOS 8" VM type, is that correct? If so then I suggest to open another case and file logs. The described behaviour must be a bug.
Thanks!

Yes, it's mainly about scripts - not failing but nothing is happening at all. I've got Ubuntu, CentOS7 and CentOS8 in the same job and for the other OSes, it's attempting login. For CentOS8 it goes straight from "Getting VM info from vSphere" to "Creating VM snapshot". Other OS-s attempt login, script execution etc between these steps, similar view in logs (no attempt to login nor push files in CentOS8).
Will create ticket.

There's been little detailed feedback other than confirmed repro. Gutfeeling and wording makes me think that it's elevated to engineering.
Not complaining though - I'm on vacation actually so no hurry.

Confirmed bug. Will be fixed in a yet undetermined upcoming release.
