Application awareness

Post by student1363 »

Hi guys,

I read about application awareness, I know it support Microsoft apps and oracle. My question is when I am creating job and select "Try application processing, but ignore failures", does it mean my backup of for example SQL might be corrupted and not useful?
If yes, so what is inside my backup? If I restore the backup can I have some parts of my data (database) ?

thanks

Hi Elysa,

The backup isn't going to be corrupted, so you'll be able to restore the entire VM, but application consistency is not guaranteed.
For example, SQL databases can be recovered from crash-consistent backup in most cases, as they are designed for this.

Yes, you can use file-level restore to retrieve database or whatever files you need. Thanks!
