Archive of one restore point
Hello,
does anyone know, if it is possible to archive one restore point of one vm of a backup job?
So what i want to to, is:
I have one backup job (say with 10 vms) with 14 restore points.
We made a change 5 days ago in active directory, so we need the ad recovery tools of veeam for only one vm.
But i haven't found, how to extract one of the vms with a certain restore point, in this example 6 days ago, so the normal restore procedure can take place.
Perhaps i could restore this machine and backup it alone, but isn't there a better solution?
I have no space for a copy of the whole backupjob, so i can't use it as an imported backup ...
Thanks for your help.

Re: Archiv of one restore point
Hello and welcome to the community!
You cannot save restore point of one VM from the middle of the chain because data blocks of several VMs are shared and deduplicated inside backups and backup of exact day are stored in different backup files of the chain.
So the easiest choice indeed is to restore the particular VM and VeeamZIP it.
Thanks!

Instant Recovery with subsequent VeeamZIP/backup will also work.

[MERGED] Archiving Specific Restore Point
I've seen a couple of posts here and there regarding the need to archive a particular restore point from an existing job. The consensus has been to either copy the entire existing set then run another job to merge it down to what you want OR use instant recovery and run a backup of that. Although that may work... that's a lot of effort, time and potentially space required. Is there a better way and if not, what is the possibility of getting this feature added?

Hi Dan,
As you already mentioned the easiest way is to perform instant recovery with subsequent VeeamZip/backup of the particular VM.
Thank you for the feature request, we will look into it in further updates of the product. Thanks!

Yeah... instant recovery then veeamzip will work. It's just not an elegant solution. Thanks for adding that to the pile of feature requests. Hopefully it's somewhere near the top and not the third from last after adding automatic cat picture detection algorithms.
