Hello
I have a SMB customer who has a small deployment using VMWare ESXi 5.1 with VCenter. They have 1 production host with a local datastore which all the virtual servers are stored. They have another server which will act as a backup server. This backup server will be an ESXi 5.1 host with 1 x Windows Server 2008 R2 virtual server installed. This VM will have Veeam installed on it. My question is will Veeam be able to backup the VMs on the production host as I understand it veeam has to see the remote datastore?

Re: Backing up VMWare Local Datastore
Hello Mark,
Yes, your production VMs can still be backed up via network mode. On the other hand, if you want to use HotAdd backup mode, then you would need a proxy VM on the main site.
Thank you!
