Hi,
we currently have a set of VMs we're replicating to another server using Veeam. One of the servers holds critical data that changes a lot throughout the day (and most of the time around the clock) and we're wondering if backing up one of its disks using VMs on top of the replication once a day might harm it or throw the replication schedule out of whack.
Has anyone successfully managed a mix of replication and backups using vms or should that be avoided at all costs?

As far as I got you right, I would try using daisy chained jobs and see how it works regarding your backup/replica window. You can see all the details by following the link below:
