Backup Copy Job works only with WAN accelerators

Post by Jamie Pert »

Can someone tell me likely reasons why I'm seeing this error on some VMS if I opt to run a Veeam Copy job to an offsite repository using direct communication rather than WAN accelerators?

Code: Select all

Processing 'servernamehere' Error: Client error: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
Exception from server: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond
Unable to retrieve next block transmission command. Number of already processed blocks: [0].
Failed to perform data backup.
Please note I have not logged a job yet, I just want your quick opinions on the matter.

Jamie, there is an existing thread regarding this type of errors occurring during ordinary backup jobs, please review. The fact that it does not affect WAN accelerated job makes me think that the issue is also connection-related.

WAN accelerators will attempt to restore connection much longer when it drops... direct mode is optimized for on-site transfers, so it has shorter timeouts.
