Backup file ... is missing on host ...

Post by fuchs »

Good morning,

we have updated to Veeam Backup and FastSCP 4.
Our client changes every day the backup-disks (usb), now Veeam can't make the backups:
Analyzing object "Windows 2003 Standard R2"
Backup file 'F:\Veem-Backup\Windows Server 2003\Backup Server Windows 2003-neu.vbk' is missing on host 'My Computer'.
In the old version Veeam always created an fullbackup if there was no file in the target folder. How can we change the behavior to make an fullbackup, if the disk is changed every day?
I have already changed to options to perform an full backup every day, but it doesn't work.

Thanks a lot.

Hello Marcel,

The only option available right now to resolve that error, is to perform a delete from disk option in Veeam Backup console, it'll remove all the references to backup files at Veeam DB, so there is no any error during the presence check of backup files on the target storage. This change comparing to version 3.x was made due to you to be aware when you're missing the backups on your destination storage (for ex. when your backup storage becomes unavailable)

However the 3.x behaviour will be returned back in our next release by changing registry values, actually you'll have the choice whether to use behaviour from 3.x version or use as it is in version 4.

Thank you.

Has this issue been resolved? If so, what is the registry change necessary?

Hello Davin,

For the registry key value please have a look at following forum thread: Veeam Backup 4 & removable Media
