Backup from vcenter, restore to vcloud?
Hello... looking for some general guidance on this. We have an on-site vcenter 5.5 that I'm currently backing up using Veeam 7.0 (Will be upgrading soon).
We are looking at setting up a DR/HA site and need to know if we can back up our current vcenter VMs, and restore them to the DR site which is the hosting provider's vcloud. Is it supported? Any major gotchas to be aware of? Thanks much!

Hello Mike,
Yes, it is possible. Are you going to migrate vCenter to the cloud?
We`ve also announced new v9 replica-to-cloud feature. You nay be interested.
Thanks!

He is talking about hosted environment based on vCloud Director, right Mike?
Since restore requires host level access, restore is only possible if your hosting provider also runs Veeam.

Speaking about SP's site, since it's going to be vSphere - to - vCloud restore, SP will have to import restored VM in vCloud environment, using its native capabilities; this topic might be also helpful. Thanks.

Re: Backup from vcenter, restore to vcloud?
@Shestakov- we aren't migrating technically, the VMs will still reside at our production site on vcenter. For DR & high availability, we want to replicate some VMs to a vCloud Director infrastructure at the provider's datacenter.
@Gostev- yes, that's right. We or the provider will set up a host/vm at the DR site running Veeam. And since it's DR/HA, this will be running every day, (not just once) with restores happening perhaps every 6 hours or so. The main question is, does Veeam allow us to do this and restore the VMs without the provider compromising the security of their multi-tenancy. They obviously cannot allow me access to things that could affect their other customers VMs.

Yes, there are delegation options that will allow the provider to limit you to be able to restore your own VMs only using our web UI.
