Backup Jobs and Retention Policy

Post by plangham »

Hi, I am fairly new to Veeam and need some assistance in the best way to configure our backups with a clear retention policy.

We have a VMware estate that needs backing up daily which currently is backed up to external disk with daily disks (M,T,W,TH) then a weekly disk is backed up per Friday, then a month end disk and lastly a year end disk.

The data is too large for transferring to disk so I would like to utilise our offsite storage but keep the same retention policy so my question is how do I do this?

Hi Paul, take a look at backup copy jobs, they should address your GFS type of retention. You would need to have a regular backup jobs first with some short-term retention on local storage and then use backup copy to copy data offsite for longer-term archive.
