Hi,
Has anyone used Veeam to backup or replicate McAfee Security appliances such as McAfee Email Gateway / Web Gateway / DLP ?
I believe they are Linux appliances.
Just wondering if there is any special consideration or is it as easy as just firing the snapshot and backing it up?
Thanks
Phil

Re: Backup McAfee Virtual Appliances
I backup our TIE server. I don't do indexing on the VMs. It's a dirty backup, but better than nothing.

Re: Backup McAfee Virtual Appliances
Shouldn't be any different than any other VM.
Test it yourself with a snapshot (quiescence if you like) and just leave the snapshot on for a bit, and then commit the snapshot.
Truthfully there shouldn't be much to it. I peeked at McAfee's website for it and they seem to have no real suggestions aside from doing the native config backup.
So fire away I guess and maybe just shoot a ticket to McAfee and see if they have any advice for prepping for backup.
