Backup VCentre or VM?

Post by turnerr12 »

Very quick question probably, should I be creating a job to backup my VCentre (thus including all VM's) or should I be creating an individual job for each VM? If I create one job it means it will capture any new VM's I create in my cluster. However, if one or more VMs error then i will need to run the whole lot again, correct? :?

Frankly speaking, I suggest using containers (datastores, clusters, hosts, folders etc.) for backup/replication job configuration. As you have correctly noticed that should allow you to backup all new VMs automatically.

If one or more VMs error during the backup job, then a retry option will skip all VMs which were successfully backed up and will try to backup only failed ones. Thanks.
