Backup vs. Replica

Post by rizks_2000 »

Performing my first backup now. Have it scheduled to run at 6:00AM daily. Manually started it though today. When it completes, and runs again tomorrow at 6:00AM, it should only do a incremental backup from that point forward until I tell it to perform another full backup. Correct? I had initially performed a Replica job and it completed with success. However, I manually kicked off the job again to see how long the incremental backup would take, and it seemed to go into a full replica mode, meaning it was starting over like the first replica never existed. Am I missing something? Is the functionality different for a backup and replica?

Yes, your understanding is correct, both backup and replica are forever-incremental after the first run.
