Hi,
I would like to check on the object storage immutability feature.
When the object lock function is enabled in object storage, I think it is necessary to set “Make recent backups immutable” and specify the immutability period when using it as a repository.
If I change the immutable period later, what will happen to the backup operation?
It appears that the invariant period can be increased or decreased in the settings.
Will the changed invariant period be applied from the next job execution?
Kind Regards,

Re: Behavior after changing the immutable period of an object storage repository
We use this extensively so I may be able to advise.
1) you can only enable object locking on a new bucket, so you will not be able to enable this on any existing buckets
2) you must use immutability when writing to a repository with object locking, I think it will give you an error if this is not enabled, I don't remember what the error says but there is one
3) if you change the immutability period later, it will no change to previous restore points (because they are immutable) but it will change the immutability period for new restore points created
eg. if you set immutability to 100 days then change it to 1 day, the previous restore points will remain immutable for 100 days and the new ones will only be immutable for 1 day
if you set immutability to 10 and then change it to 20, all previous points remain 10, they will not increase, all new ones will be 20
4) this is very important I think it's poorly explained in Veeam, if you enable GFS - your GFS restore points are also immutable, and will immutable for however long your GFS policy is
eg. if you have 4 weekly GFS and 12 monthly GFS which is pretty typical, your 12 monthly GFS restore points are immutable for a full year, this can cause issues if not properly understood before proceeding
good luck hope this helps
