Can you disable VIX functionality from Veeam side?
Hi,
Environment is:
Windows server 2016 Proxys, physical.
VMware 6.7 U2+
Veeam 9.5 Update 4b
I have a weird issue regarding VIX.
I want and is doing backups over RPC.
The "Test now" under credentials in the job always fails on all the vms and is successful on RPC.
But for some reason I don't know, SQL t-logg backups failover to VIX sometimes.
This creates issues on the time aspect and the guesthelper service gets stuck for hours and with that blows the 15 min window.
So best for me would be to disabler VIX all together, can that be done?
Or if someone has some clue why it is happening
Best regards!

Hi. I'm pretty sure there's a registry key to switch priority to network, support should be able to provide you one. Thanks!

Hi Victor,
By default, we use RPC and only failover to VIX if RPC is unavailable. Thus, in case you observe VIX usage, I suspect there are networking issues and if you disable VIX completely it will lead to T-log backup failures. Instead, I'd recommend eliminating issues leading to RPC unavailability.
Thanks

Hi Gostev and Fedor,
Thanks for the fast response guys.
Yea that reg key would be awesome.
We found a network issue as you said some ports in the reverse direction was missing.
But it is hard to find the usage of VIX so I would like to disable it all together
So come back to me when you find the reg key.
Best regards!

The registry value won't help since RPC is used by default and the value just inverses the order, forcing Veeam B&R to try VIX first.
