Conflict between VirtualDK driver and ElbyCDIO driver

Post by rsavo »

Hi !

I would like to report some conflicts between Veaam B&R 6.1.0.181 and Elaborate Bytes VirtualCloneDrive

Both products are installed on a x64 Windows 2008 R2
Both products use a virtual drive driver: Veeam uses a driver called "VirtualDK" and CloneDrive uses "ElbyCDIO"

When trying to open a .vbk file to restore individual files, the VirtualDK driver fails to load.
Windows System logs reports "The VirtualDK service failed to start due to the following error: Cannot create a file when that file already exists."

Current workaround for now has been to disable the ElbyCDIO driver in the registry by changing its statup mode to "4" (disabled)

This of course disables Virtual Clone drive but at least it pinpoints the issue to some conflict between the two device drivers

I'll be glad to provide some debug logs if support is interested
(I'm currently running the free version)

Cheers
Robert
