Continue if VMware tools quiescence fails option ?

Post by raphael@schitz.net »

Hi, i've check around in the forum to see if someone already asked but please forgive me if i missed something somewhere.
In our weekly backups we sometimes got some VMs that are not backuped because of the quiescing timeout :
Freezing guest operating system
Cannot create a quiesced snapshot because the create snapshot operation exceeded the time limit for holding off I/O in the frozen virtual machine.
Would you consider add a job option that let veeam backup tries snapshot whitout quiescing in order to backup something at the very least ?
Thanks for reading

We do have such option with application-aware image processing feature, which is the recommended way of quiescing your virtual machines over VMware Tools quiescence that you are using. Thanks.

Thanks Gostev but what if we can't provide a common local admin account ?

You do not have to have common account. You can specify different local user account for each VM.

it's not comfortable since we back up resource pools and don't care about which vm are in

Well, "common" account would certainly be more "comfortable" option ;) I am just giving you alternatives.

You're absolutely right but for example we got some DMZ VM for which we even don't know any admin account for security reason. Am i the only customer asking you that by the way ?
Thanks you for your time Gostev :)

So far, yes... I guess other just address the reason for VMware quiesce failure.
