Dedupe ratios: DD vs Native

Post by lando_uk »

Hi

According to our Veeam One, offsite repo currently uses about 30TB for Full's and 5TB of increments (10 jobs, 230 VMs) just 5 days retention.

I'm getting a quote for a 34TB DD6300 as a replacement, would that be sufficient and leave me with much room for growth (or longer retentions) or do you think I'd need another tray of disks?

Thanks

A DD will get insanely good dedupe. I think you'll be fine with 34TB, probably for many years. Our DD currently shows 16TB post dedup, which was compressed down from 434TB pre dedup or 27x compression
