'Defrag and compact full backup file' job is not running

Servus Community,

I have enabled the option 'Defrag and compact full backup file' for a Forever Forward Incremental Job but this maintenance task is not executed. I've worked through this Knowledge base article [1] but I don't know why. One thing, however, has not been answered yet: Does a backup jop have to be scheduled for the day for which this maintenance task was planned? This is not the case so far.

Hello,
yes, a job needs to be scheduled for the day when you want to do the defragmentation. There is no separate scheduler for defragmentation and health check processes.

For example, backup job that runs only at 18:00 every Sunday.

If defragmentation processing is set for this backup job on Wednesday, will it be executed at 24:00 on Wednesday?

No, it will not be executed at all since it's a post-job activity. To run defragmentation on Wednesday you should have the corresponding job to run on this day - either manually or by schedule.

okay, actually the defrag maintenance job should have run yesterday after the incremental backup but I don't find any hints regarding this in the report. The whole execution took a little more than three minutes, I would have expected a much longer execution. Another question before I take a closer look at the solutions of the other thread with the bug, I should already find an entry in the report that clearly addresses this maintenance job, isn't it?

Please note that I changed the execution date of the compact job from Tuesday to Wednesday just a few minutes ago, because I added the registry value as mentioned in the other thread regarding the CompactSkipModificationTimeCheck for further tests but I can roll back the setting when necessary...

Jepp, now it works, at least for this job but it works for the very first time, so I'm convinced the other jobs will also work...

Most likely, the registry setting has fixed it for you. FYI: this issue should be fully addressed in the next version.
