Hello,
We have a VM which have been stopped and deleted, for which we need to keep last backup for 3 years because of legal reasons.
Unfortunately, the corresponding Backup job and Backup Copy job have been deleted as they were no more required.
However, as I understood, the GFS retention policy is managed during Backup Copy job execution.
If the job is deleted, of even simply stopped, I guess that there is no more retention managed. Then obsolete yearly and monthly will never be deleted.
Am I right ?
Is there any may to let Veeam manage the monthly and yearly backup expiration once the job is deleted, or do we need to manage expiration manually, deleting backup files by ourselves ?
Then, is there a way to identify other backups in same situation ?
Thanks for your ideas.

Re: Deleted GFS job vs backup expiration
Hello Olivier,
You are correct. The backups should not be deleted automatically in this case.
There is Orphaned VMs report for situations like yours.
Thanks!
