Difference between Veeam Cloud Connect & Veeam Enterprise Manager?

Post by Manuji »

Hello

I have few basic questions on Veeam Cloud connect & Veeam Enterprise Manager.
The scenario is If I have multiple customer say A,B,C and I have my own data center as a MSP. For customer A I want to send data directly to my data center without creating any copy at the customer A location. For customer B & C I want to create a copy locally at Customer B & C location and create duplicate copy at my location. I dont want to manage any VPN connectivity between my Data center and Customer A,B & C location.

1. Can this be achieved with both Veeam Cloud connect & Enterprise Manager?
2. I believe I need to deploy a Veeam B&R server at each customer locations(A,B,C) and a Veeam Cloud connect server at my data center. Correct?
3. Can I use Veeam Enterprise Manager in this scenario?

Hi,

1. This can be achieved with VCC only. EM simply provides ability to manage multiple VBR srevers from a single panel.

2. That's right. Please see this page for quick how-to's, and a user guide page for detailed explanation.

3. How are you going to use it exactly?

Thanks!

For Point 3 If I deploy Veeam Proxy Server at each customer locations A,B,C and One Veeam B&R Server/Veeam Enterprise Manager at my location. Can I send data from each customer locations(A,B,C) to my location directly and insome cases create a copy at customer location and create duplicate at my data center? Can I achieve this without maintaining any VPN ( 3 tunnels) in this case which Veeam Cloud connect allows me to do?

As the articles describe, there is no need to use VPN if you use Cloud Connect (see answer #2).

Regarding Enterprise Manager usage - its intended usage is to manage multiple Veeam Backup & Replication installations from a single web console. EM does not store any backups itself. Thus my question - what do you want to achieve by using EM?

Thanks!

Keep in mind that with Cloud Connect you need to set up a backup server in every location, not just a proxy.

Let me ask this way keeping the above scenario. Is it possible to deploy Veeam Proxy Server at location A,B & C and also at my location. If I also deploy veeam EM server at my location . Can I run backup from Customer A,B,C and backup data to the storage attached to Veeam Proxy server at my location. And then control everything from Veeam EM. Is this architecture also Possible?
